Abstract
A polyvinyl acetate(PVAc) emulsion with 20%solid content was synthesized by semi-continuous seeded emulsion polymerization. The influences of PVA(polyvinyl alcohol) contents, monomers of copolymer, charging wise and light CaCO_3 contents were discussed on emulsion viscosity. The results showed that the emulsion viscosity was enhanced with increase of PVA contents. The monomer types of copolymer had certain influence on emulsion viscosity. The emulsion viscosity was reduced with increase of seeded monomer contents. The emulsion viscosity was increased by several times when light CaCO_3 was introduced in systems. The solid content was 18.04% and viscosity was 5 570 mPa·s for synthesized emulsion.
