Abstract
Purpose To explore the relationships between COX-2 expression and angiogenesis in colorectal tumors Methods The COX-2 expression, VEGF expression, MVD were evalulated by immunohistochemical method. Results There was significant difference of MVD between COX-2 postive colorectal tumors and negative ones(P0.05). The expressions of COX-2 and VEGF in colonic tumors were significantly positively correlated (controlling for MVD,r = 0.801 7,P0.01).So were the expressions of VEGF and MVD (controlling for COX-2,r = 0.392 l,P0.01).But there was no significant correlation between COX-2 and MVD (controlling for VEGF,r = 0.138 0,P0.05). Conclusions The present findings suggest that there is some link between COX-2 and angiogenesis in colorectal neoplasms, partly attributing to the effect of VEGF.
