Clinical application of ProTaper instruments in endodontic treatment of aged people molar canals

Objective To evaluate the application of hand-use ProTaper instruments in endodontic treatment of aged people molar canals.Methods One hundred and twelve cases who needed root canal treatment were randomly divided into two group.The root canals were prepared with hand ProTaper(PT group:64 cases, 210 root canals, gradually forward method)and ISO standard stainless steel type K and H files (KH group: 58 patients,201 root canals, gradually for ward method), respectively.The pain after preparation and root canal obturation effect were evaluated.Results The rate of satisfactory radiographical results of the test group was 91%,which was significantly higher than 64% of the control (P0.05).The acute reaction rate was 3%,which was significantly lower than 21% of the control(P0.05). Conclusion The application of hand-use ProTaper instruments may improve the effect of aged people root canal treatment of the molars shorten the working time and reduce the post-operative emergencies.It is worth popularizing.
