Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of ProTaper in preparation of molars′root canals. Methods 96 molars were randomly divided into two groups and prepared by ProTaper and stainless steel K files. All canals were obturated with lateral condensation method. The incidence of instrument seperation and post-operative pain were recorded. The efficiency of preparation was analyzed with radiograph. Results In ProTaper group,91.9% of the canals were achieved continuous funnel shapes after preparation, while 51.1% of the canals were achieved in stainless steel K files group. The difference between two groups was statistically significant. There was more post-operative pain in the stainless steel K files group than in the ProTaper group(P0.05).There was no statistically significance of instrument seperation between two groups. Conclusion ProTaper performed good shaping ability in molars′ root canals and generated less post-operative pain.
