Abstract
For all alkaline Zinc/MnO2 batteries, zinc electrode had good electrochemical performance under the influence of mercury. The mercury increased zinc overpotential of hydrogen evolution by about 0.13~0.20 V.And it improved the leakage-proof performance of battery.Batteries had not leakage after 60ds’storage under 60℃ and RH 90%.The amalgam serves as contact bridge between zinc granules and removes oxide in zinc face,so it reduced polarization impedance and improved electrochemical performance of zinc electrode.1Ω discharge time of LR6 was a little longer than before. The potential of amalgam zinc electrode negatively moved about 30mV.Mercury can be substituted or removed by many method.
