Abstract
In order to improve the performance of zinc electrode, effect of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC)and polyacrylate sodium on electrochemical performance of zinc electrode and discharge performance of zinc-air battery were analyzed by contrast experiments. It showed that using the mixture of CMC and polyacrylate sodium as zinc gel binder, zinc electrode and zinc-air battery had better performances than others.AA size zinc-air battery was made with this zinc gel binder. It discharged for 39 h before voltage reached 0.9 V with 10 Ω constant load. The discharge curve of the cell had a flat plateau at 1.235 V,utilization of zinc powder was 83.1%.Its discharge capacity reached 4 770 mAh.
