Nasoendoscopy combined with Caldwell-Luc surgery in treating inverted papilloma in nasal cavities and paranasal sinuses

【Objective】To evaluate the therapeutic effect of endoscopic and Caldwell-Luc surgery on inverted papilloma of the nasal cavities and paranasal sinuses(NIP).【Method】The clinical data of 24 cases with inverted papilloma in the nasal cavities and paranasal sinuses were analyzed retrospectively.All patients were treated by nasoendoscopic and Caldwell-Luc surgery.【Result】 In all the patients inverted papillomas were removed completely and no serious complications occurred.Patients were followed up for 2-4 years.Two cases recurred.The remaining cases had no recurrences in the follow-up period.The relapsed cases were treated by endoscopic surgery again and combined with shaver system.No malignant change occurred in the following up period.【Conclusion】 Combined endoscopic and Caldwell-Luc surgery is a safe and effective therapeutic method in treating inverted papilloma in nasal cavities and paranasal sinuses.
