Improvement on Experimental Preparation Method of Butyl Acetate

Abstract

In this paper,the preparation method of butyl acetate was improved.Butyl acetate was prepared from acetic acid and butanol,using sulfuric acid and NiSO4 as the catalyst respectively.The result shows that NiSO4 has the advantages of high catalytic activity,low cost,good repeatability,without harmful water of the residues,and high production rate.Therefore the butyl acetate was prepared,mainly using NiSO4 as the catalyst in this paper.The influences of the amount of the catalyst,reaction time,molar ratio of alcohol to acid,repeated uses of the catalyst on production rate were studied.When the molar ratio of alcohol to acid is 1.0∶0.9,the amount of the catalyst is 0.5 g,and the reaction time is 1.5 h,the production rate is 92.2%.
