Abstract

Evaluation of right ventricular function is considered as a challenging process due to the complex shape of the right ventricular chamber.Tissue Doppler imaging(TDI) is a technique offering a new and sensitive method to evaluate heart function.TDI is a new non-invasive and quantitative technique to analyze ventricular wall motion, which can remove frequency shift signal with high speed and low amplitude resulting from blood of heart and remain frequency shift signal with low speed and high amplitude by changing filtering system on the basis of traditional color Doppler. At present,TDI not only can analyze quantitatively the degree and character of myocardial dysfunction, but also is the basis for more complicated advanced technique such as the examination of myocardial strain rate.Right ventricular tissue Doppler imaging is a feasible, reproducible, and easily performed additional echocardiographic measure of right ventricular systolic and diastolic function. This article reviews the progress inTDI analysis of right ventricular wall motion and cardiac function.
