Clinical significance of C-reactive protein and prealbumin in AECOPD patients

Objective To observe the clinical values of serum C-reactive protein(CRP),and prealbumin(PA) in assessing the severity and the prognosis of AECOPD patient.Methods CRP and PA levels of 152 patients Were measured on the 1st,3rd,5th and 7th day.According to prognosis,the patients were divided into death group and survival group.According to hospital day,the patients were divided into less than 14 days group and more than 14 days group.Result No significant difference was found in the levels of CRP and PA on the 1St and 2nd day(P0.05),but the levels of CRP in death group were higher than those in survival group on the 3rd,5th and 7th day(P0.05).The levels of PA in death group was much lower than those in survival group on the 5th and 7th day(P0.05).Conclusion Continuous high level of CRP and low level of PA indicate unfavourable prognosis and severe diseases of AECOPD patients.
