Abstract
Objective: To study the changes of C-reactive protein(CRP)and prealbumin (PA) levels in sepsis patients so as to explore the relation to the severity of disease and prognosis.Methods: CRP and PA levels of 40 sepsis patients were measured on 1st 、4th、7th day after admission and the last day before discharge or death. Meanwhile APACHEⅡscore were documented. According to prognosis, patients were divided into death group and non-death group. Results:The levels of CRP and PA on 1st 、4th day were of no significant difference between the death group and non-death group. The level of CRP in death group on 7th day and the last day was much higher than that in non-death group. The level of PA in death guoup was much lower than that in non-death group. There was a positive correlation between CRP and APACHEⅡ scors, while a negative correlation was found between PA and APACHEⅡ score.Conlusions:There was a positive correlation between CRP and severity of sepsis cases, and a negative correlaton between PA and severity of sepsis cases.Persistent high level of CRP and low level of PA indicated severe disease course and unfavourate prognosis. It is of clinical value to evaluate the severity of disease and predict prognosis in sepsis by combined dynamic observation of CRP and PA levels.
