Abstract
The functions of the Static Var Compensator(SVC) and Static Synchronous Compensator(STATCOM) for the static and transient voltage stability are analyzed,and calculation and simulation are conducted for the IEEE 14 bus system by using the continuous flow analysis and time-domain simulation analysis.The results show that both the SVC and STATCOM can greatly improve the stability of the system,and advantages of the STATCOM over SVC are also displayed through the results.
