Abstract
With the development of large unit, large power, high voltage and long-distance on the power system, the power system stability issues become increasingly prominent. Two new types of dynamic compensator of static var compensator(SVC) and static synchronous compensator(STATCOM) is used in the power system to improve voltage stability and transient stability after fault though providing real-time dynamic reactive power compensation.SVC and STATCOM maintaining the stability of the power system is verified through the MATLAB/SIMULINK building compensation system models. It is pointed out that STATCOM has a wide application prospect by comparison.
