Nedaplatin in the treatment of esophageal carcinoma

Objective:To observe the effects and toxicity of china-made nedaplatin with 5-fluorouracil in the treatment of esophageal carcinoma. Methods:Observing group NDP/5-FU regiment: received nedaplatin 80～100mg/m~2 on day 1 and 5-fluorouracil 500～750 mg/m~2 on day 1～5. Control group: DDP/5-FU regiment received displatin 80～100mg/m~2 on day 1 and 5-Fluorouracil 500～750 mg/m~2 on day 1～5. In both groups per 28 days was a cycle ,one course consisted 2 cycles. Results:The decrease of the tumor size after chemotherapy is the standard. 27 patients were in observing group, the other 27 patients were in control group. The response rate of 27 esophageal carcinoma treated by NDP/5-FU was 51.9%(14/27), 27 patients treated by DDP/5-FU was 48.1%(13/27)(P0.05).The two groups have no significant difference. Conclusion:China-made nedaplatin is effective in treating advanced esophageal cancer. The response rate is the same with DDP/5-FU regiment. The gastrointestinal effects of NDP/5-FU group is lighter than DDP/5-FU group.
