Synthesis and characterization of cationic ether agent CTA

As the paper industry,important addition agents,3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl trimethyl ammonium chloride was useful the activity intermediates.Taken absolute ethanol as a medium,used epiehlorohydrin(EPIC), 36% hydrochloric acid and triethvlamine as materials,3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl triethyl ammonium chloride (CTA)was svnthesized with'water way'in ethanol.The products were characterized bv FT-IR.The results showed that the product yield was 97.6%,purity was 96%,the melting point was between 168℃and 170℃,the water ab- sorption of CTA had reached basic saturation at 6 hours.Explored the best svnthetic conditions of(CTA):the total reaction time was 5 hours,reaction temperature was 20℃,the molar ratio of epichlorohydrin and triethylamine hydrochloride was 0.95:1,pH value of reaction system was between 7 and 8.
