On problems about the nature, orientation and characteristic construction of higher vocational education

Higher vocational education has held up half of the sky of China's higher education in the past five years, which witnessed the rapid development of higher education. This rapid development has not only gone far beyond the capacity of school, but also gone ahead of the existing theory of vocational education. There has been and still is vague cognition and practice about the nature, orientation and characteristic construction of higher education. Therefore, according to our analysis, based on the approaches by putting vocational education into higher vocational education system, higher education system and social system respectively, this paper puts forward eight natures, eight orientations and eight characteristic constructions, and discussed their connotations and interrelations as well.
