Abstract

Objective:To study the significance of p16INK4A protein detection for the early diagnosis of uterine cervical adenocarcinoma and its precursors lesion. Methods:A total of 58 paraffin embedded tissues were selected for this study. In which,20 cases were normal cervical epithelia,6 cases were cervical glandular intraepithelial neoplasia (CGIN),and 32 cases were cervical adenocarcinomas. The EnVision method of immunohistochemistry was used for the detection of p16INK4A protein expression, and the clinico-pathological significance of p16INK4A expression was analyzed. Results: The expression of p16INK4A was negative in all 20 cases of normal cervical epithelia;However,83.3%(5/6) of CGIN and 93.8% (30/32) of cervical adenocarcinoma were strongly positive for p16INK4A protein. Conclusion:P16INK4A is a good marker for the early diagnosis of uterine cervical adenocarcinoma.
