Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and clinical implication of P16INK4A and Ki-67 in cervical adenocarcinoma.Methods In this study,95 cases of cervical paraffin samples were divided into 2 groups: 34 cases with normal cervical glandular epithelium were designated as the control group and 61 cases with cervical adenocarcinoma tissues were designated as cervical adenocarcinoma group.SP immunohistochemistry was used to determine the expressions of P16INK4A and Ki-67.The expressions of P16INK4A and Ki-67 protein in the tissue were detected by SP immunohistochemistry,followed by qualitative and semi-quantitative determination.Furthermore,clinical and pathological data of 61 cases of invasive cervical adenocarcinoma were retrospectively analyzed.Results The positive rate of P16INK4A and Ki-67 of the normal glandular epithelium in the control group was 23.53% and 20.59%,respectively.The positive rate of P16INK4A and Ki-67 in the cervical adenocarcinoma group was 80.33% and 81.97%,respectively.The difference between the two groups is statistically significant(P0.05).The expression level of P16INK4A was related to clinical stage of cancer,cervical stromal invasion depth,and diameter of the tumor(P0.05),and was unrelated to pathological types,grade of malignancy,and lymph node metastasis(P0.05).The expression of Ki-67 in cervical adenocarcinoma was related to pathological stage,diameter of the tumor,and lymph node metastasis(P0.05).The expression of P16INK4A was correlated with Ki-67 in cervical adenocarcinoma(P0.01).Conclusions The positive expressions of P16INK4A and Ki-67 in cervical adenocarcinoma are different from that in normal glandular epithelium with statistical significance.The combined detection of positive expression of P16INK4A and Ki-67 proteins in cervical tissues may be used as an adjuvant in the diagnosis of cervical adenocarcinoma with clinical value.
