Abstract
Objective: To study correlationship of serum matrix metalloproteinase - 9, transforming growth factor -β1, type Ⅳ collagen concentrations and urine albumin excretion rate in patients with diabetic nephropathy. Methods: 57 cases with type 2 DM were divided into three groups according to urine albumin excretion rate: group A (normoalbumin-uria), group B(microalbuminuria) and group C (macroalbuminuria). Serum MMP-2, TGF-β1 and CⅣ level were measured in all cases. Results: Serum MMP-2 in groups A, B and C were apparently lower than that in the normal control (NC) group (P0.001); Serum TGF-β1 in groups A, B and C were higher than that in NC group ( P 0.001) and group C was higher than groupA (P 0. 001); Serum type Ⅳ collagen in groups B, C were higher than those in other two groups ( P 0.001), group C was higher than group B ( P 0.01). Conclusion: Lower serum MMP - 2 and higher TGF - β1 may play an important role in the development of diabetic nephropathy in T2DM.
