Abstract
Whichever places the Taiping troops accupied,they would rescue the prisoners,making use of them.The Qing goverment waged a tit for tat struggle against Taiping troops,taking three measures:1.killed the prisoners who were guilty of monstrous crimes;2.moved away the prisoners;3.transported the prisoners to a distant place for penal servitude.
