Abstract

Objective To detect the expression of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) and vascular endothelial growth factor C(VEGF-C) in breast cancer and get further understanding of the correlation between these two indexes and lymph node metastasis of breast cancer.Methods Immunohistochemical SP method was adopted in detecting COX-2 and VEGF-C protein expression in 60 cases of invasive ductal carcinoma and 15 cases of breast fibroadenoma.Results The positive rate and expression level of COX-2 and VEGF-C in breast cancer were higher than those in fibroadenoma group(P0.01).COX-2 and VEGF-C's expression was positively correlated with lymph node metastasis in breast cancer(P0.01),and expressions of COX-2 and VEGF-C were positively correlated with each other.The co-expression of COX-2 and VEGF-C was related to lymph node metastasis (P0.05).Conclusion COX-2 and VEGF-C are over-expressed in breast cancer,and their expressions have a positive correlation.The co-expression of COX-2 and VEGF-C is related to lymph node metastasis.A join-detection of COX-2 and VEGF-C's expression in breast cancer can provide a reference for instituting clinical treatment plan.
