Abstract
Objective To ev al uate the effects of triptoreline (Diphereline ), one of the GnRH ago-nists, on girls with idiopathic central precocious puberty (ICPP). Meth ods Twenty eight girls with ICPP in 6 hospitals received tripto reline therapy for 6 months (4 cases) and 12 months (24 cases). Before and after treatment, breasts, other secondary sexual characteristics and growth velocity were observed, and pelvic ultrasonic examination, X-ray bone age (BA), and seru m level of E 2 were detected. LHRH stimulating test, GH stimulating test (some of the girls) and serum IGF-Ⅰ assay were performed. The BA was judged with met hod of Greulich-Pyle and the predicted adult final height (PAH) was estimated w ith Bayley-Pinneau method. Results After 6 and 12 months treatment of triptoreline, the size of uterus, ovaries and breasts wa s significantly reduced. The peak levels of serum LH and FSH by GnRH stimulation were also significantly reduced. The ratio of BA/CA (chronology age) decreased, showing the disrupted maturation of BA. After 6 and 12 months treatment, the Ht SDS BA improved from -1.46±0.16 to -1.30±0.15 and -1.02±0.17; and HtSDS CA from 1.05±0.20 to 0.99±0.18 and 0.95±0.20 respectively (P 0.01). Predicted adult height (PAH) increased from (153.8±1.1)cm to (155.0±1.1)cm and (157.0±1.2)cm. Conclusion Triptoreline effectively suppresses the gonadal axis and sex symptoms and delays the BA maturation and improves the PAH in girls with ICPP.
