Abstract

Objective: To explore the clinical and pathological features of chordoid meningioma. Methods: Histopathology and immunohistochemistry were used to study the morphological characteristics of chordoid meningioma, and the related literature was reviewed. Results: Lobuler and strip shaped tumor cells were seen in the mucoid matrix. The cytoplasm was hypochromic or oxychromatic. There were some droplets cells in the mucoid matrix which were similar to chordoma-like cells.Typical meningioma cells pattern was observed focally. The histochemical data showed that the alcian blue and periodic acid schiff(AB/PAS) staining was positive.Immunohistochemical data showed that the vimentin and epithelial menbrane antigen(EMA) were positive, the progesterone receptor(PR) was focal positive, while the pan cytokeratin(CKpan) and S-100 calcium binding protein were negative. Conclusion: Chordoma meningioma is rare.It needs to distinguish from chordoma, myxoid chondrosarcoma or metastatic mucinous adenocarcinoma.
