Abstract
Meningioma shows morphological heterogeneity in light microscopy. The histo-genesis of meningioma is uncertain.By the use of immunohistochemical staining(ABC and PAP methods). The distribution of Vimentin,Epithelial membrane anti-gen,Light weight cytokeratin,S-100 protein,Keratin and Carcinoembryonic antigenin 28 cases of meningiomas have been investigated. The results demonstrated that meningioma expressed the markers of both mesen-chymal and epithelial tissues. The observation that meningiomas contained both Vimentin filaments and themarkers of epithelial supported the concept of the so-called“meningothelial cell”asthe progenitor cell for menigiomas, exhibiting both epithelial and mesenchymal fea-tures.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
