Influence of bulbous bow length on resistance

Abstract

Trawlers are of majority among the fishing boats operating in China.According to national policy of Energy Saving and Emission Reduction,proper bulbous bow has been installed to reduce resistance.The resistances of different bulbous bow lengths for a trawler are compared by CFD technology,it is concluded that proper bulbous bow allows the trawler to get a resistance reduction and energy saving at the design speed.
