Abstract
Purpose To explore the expression of BCL-6 mRNA and its protein in breast carcinoma and its clinicopathologic significance. Methods 127 cases of breast carcinoma and 50 cases of benign breast lesions were analyzed by immunohistochemical staining,The expression of BCL-6 mRNA was detected by in situ hybridization in 74 cases of breast carcinoma and 50 cases of benign breast lesions. Results Both BCL-6 mRNA and its protein were tested positive in breast cancer tissues at a rate of 54.1%(40/74) and 32.3%(41/127) respectively. And the mRNA and protein of BCL-6 were positive correlation. In individual benign breast lesions, low expression(10%)of BCL-6 mRNA and protein was observed. The expression of BCL-6 protein in breast cancer was positively correlated to histological grading, size and TNM stage(P0.01),and there were no correlation with age, lymph node status. Conclusion BCL-6 might be used as a new and valuable molecular marker for breast cancer.
