Abstract

Objective To observe the early enteral nutrition on patients with severe head injury in the ICU and the influence of the complications. MethodsFrom February 2012 to February 2015 in our hospital, 64 patients with severe craniocerebral injury admitted to the ICU treatment as the research object, and were randomly divided into observation group and control group, 32 cases in each group. The observation group of patients were given early enteral nutrition support via nasogastric tube, and the control group patients were via nasogastric tube without anything, conventional liquid diet after gastrointestinal motility recovery. Observed two groups of patient's nutritional status and complications. Results The early application of enteral nutrition in the observation group of patients 1 week after treatment, serum albumin(propagated), plasma total protein(TP)test results significantly better than those of the control group patients, and gastrointestinal bleeding, stress ulcer after nasogastric, abdominal distension diarrhoea, constipation, reflux aspiration and other complications were significantly less than the control group(P 0.05). Conclusion In ICU, patients with severe head injury, early enteral nutrition support can significantly improve the nutritional status of patients, prognosis to promote recovery and reduce the gastrointestinal complications, which is worth popularizing in clinical application.
