Clinical study of oxaliplatin plus 5-FU/CF in treatment of advanced colorectal cancer

Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the therapeutic effect and toxicity of oxaliplatin (L-OHP) plus 5-FU/CF in advanced colorectal cancer. Methods:Thirty-four patients with advanced colorectal cancer received L-OHP plus 5-FU/CF. L-OHP 135mg/m~2 was administered, iv infusion four hours d_1,leucovorin (CF)150mg/m~2, iv infusion for two hours d_1～d_5,followed by 5-FU 500mg/m~2 iv infusion over a period of four hours d_1～d_5. This regimen was repeated every 3 weeks. Results:Among 34 patients, there were CR. 1 , PR. 11, SD. 14, PD.8, the overall response rate (CR+PR) was 35.3%. The major toxicities were nausea and vomiting, neurosensory toxicity, neutropenia and peripheral phlebitis, but they were tolerable. Conclusion:The combination of oxaliplatin and 5-FU/CF is an effective and tolerable regimen for treatment of advanced colorectal cancer.
