The "Passive Religionization" of Confucianism in the Context of Buddhism

In the recent discussion on whether Confucianism is a religion,the scholars concerned have ignored the historical role of Buddhism in the of Confucianism,that is,since the introduction of Buddhism to China in the Han dynasty,it had interpreted and assimilated some elements of Confucianism like its concepts,values and behavior principles.In this sense,Confucianism was religionized by Buddhism.This passive religionization of Confucianism in the context of Buddhism has some enlightening significance to the present popularization of Confucian culture,that is,it is quite possible to use Buddhism as a religious platform to popularize Confucian culture,a kind of expression of the of Confucianism.
