Abstract

The primary Confucianism is not originally aimed at building up a religion with secularity-transcending and theological properties.Confucianism in the Han Dynasty and Neo-Confucianism in the Song and Ming Dynasties,which have the tendency to be a religion,are actually different from a religion in its true sense.In Chinese history,Confucianism used to play a somewhat religious role or was turned into a religion for several times,and it was also impacted by other religious cultures.Confucianism,nevertheless,did not change its own essence and tradition of concerning about the realistic society and focusing on human rationality.Confucianism is,therefore,not equal to a religion.
