Abstract

Objective To explore the anti-ALL effects of Zeylenone and its potential mechanism. Methods The effects of Zeylenone on the proliferation of cancer cells and normal cells were tested by MTT assay. The morphological changes were observed by AO/EB staining.Apoptosis and cell cycle of cells were determined by flow cytometry. Results Zeylenone inhibited the proliferation of many cell lines but had little toxicity to peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMC).ALL cell lines(Reh,RS4;11) showed relative sensitive to Zeylenone. The suppressive effects of Zeylenone on Reh and RS4;11 were in a dose-dependent and time-dependent manners.Zeylenone induced cell apoptosis and blocked cell cycle progression at G0/G1 phase. Conclusion The inhibition effects of Zeylenone on ALL cell proliferation may be played by inducing apoptosis and inhibiting cell cycle progression.
