Abstract
Objective To explore the efficacy of compound trabeculectomy combined with cyclocrotherapy in the treatment of advanced neovascular glaucoma (NVG). Methods Sixteen patients (16 eyes) with advanced NVG were treated with 180° peripheral retinal cyclocrotherapy and compound trabeculectomy. Postoperative intraocular pressure,iris neovascularization,and complications of the surgery were studied. Results Follow-up visits during the period of 6 to 48 months after the treatment showed that visual acuity did not manifest improvement but mean intraocular pressure (IOP) dropped from 57.48 mmHg to 12.46 mmHg. Intraocular pressure was below 21 mmHg in 13 eyes (80.12%). Conclusion Compound trabeculectomy combined with cyclocrotherapy has better long-term therapeutic efficacy in treating advanced NVG.
