Abstract

Earthquake disaster reduction philosophy based on performance and consequence, in this paper the classification and the methods of earthquake damage assessment of urban buildings are mainly discussed. For each type of buildings, the corresponding methods are set up, such as the capacity spectrum method, etc. A case study of the vulnerability assesment has been done by analyzing behavior of the Quanzhou's buildings, and the appropriate strategy for earthquake disaster mitigation is given. The proposed methods of the vulnerability assessment and disaster reduction countermeasures in this paper can be applied to urban disaster mitigation planning for some other similar cities.
