Abstract
In this paper the conclusion and experience of the study on urban earthquake resistance and hazard mitigation planning around the world in the past 20 years are reviewed and summarized including earthquake risk analysis,structure vulnerability and application of geographic information system to urban earthquake resistance and hazard mitigation planning.Based on this several problems to be solved as soon as possible are put forward and the corresponding suggestion are presented.
