Abstract

Deliberative democracy is a new model of democracy which has been developing in response to the various defects of electoral democracy. Absolute equality and the public interests are taken as the core beliefs of deliberative democracy. Based on highly developed economy, sound legal system and mature civics, deliberative democracy aims to resolve the political dilemma which has been puzzling the human society. Studies on deliberative democracy in China have enriched the existing political resources and are establishing a new theoretical foundation for China’s democratic improvement.
