Abstract

Objective To explore the value of serum tumor specific growth factor(TSGF) in the differential diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis, pneumonia and lung cancer, and to observe its changes in their treatments. Methods Serum TSGF concentration was determined in 30 patients with acute pulmonary infection,35 patients with lung cancer,51 cases with pulmonary tuberculosis and 60 healthy adults. The detection results were compared. Results The TSGF level in the lung cancer group was significantly higher than that in the healthy control group(P0.01).The sensitivity and specificity of TSGF in diagnosing lung cancer was 85.7% and 97.3%,respectively.The TSGF levels of patients with pulmonary inflammation and tuberculosis were statistically higher than that of the healthy controls, but lower than that of the lung cancer group(P0.01).The serum TSGF levels in the pulmonary infection group and tuberculosis group were decreased to the normal level after anti-infection treatments, which were not statistically different from that of the control group(P0.05).Conclusions Serum TSGF has high specificity and sensitivity for lung cancer diagnosis. It has high value in the differentiation diagnosis of lung cancer, pulmonary tuberculosis and pulmonary inflammation. It is helpful for the early diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.
