Abstract

Objective To study the influence of glucose tolerance to coronary artery stenosis in patients with Coronary Heart Disease(CHD).Methods One hundred and eighteen patients were underwent CAG and divided into 3 groups according to WHO(1999) and American Diabetes Association(ADA)(1997) standard of diabetes diagnoses. Normal glucose tolerance(NGT)group had 62 cases (40 males and 22 females, age 40~68(55.6±8.7)years old);impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) group had 25 cases(14 males and 11 females, age 38~65 (57.6±8.9)years old); diabetes mellitus (DM) group had 31 cases (18 males and 13 females, age 42~70(59.6±9.6)years old). The influence of glucose tolerance to coronary artery stenosis was examined. Results ①The ratio of multi-vessel lesion, vessel lesion severity and lesion of distal coronary artery in DM group and IGT group were higher than these in NGT group(P0.05).However, there was no significant difference between DM group and IGT group(P0.05).②the insulin resistance was the mostly associated with severity of coronary lesions in risk factors of CHD.Conclusion ①DM and IGT show same influences to coronary artery lesion. Main mechanism of the influence is insulin resistance and should be intervened earlier in order to decrease the severity of coronary artery lesion and incidence of CHD.
