Analysis of Industrial Structure of Shenzhen City Based on Shift-Share Method

Abstract

Based on the Shift-Share Method and the GDP data of Shenzhen City and Guangdong Province in China's 11 th Five-Year and the early 12 th Five-Year Plan period, the industry structure of Shenzhen was analyzed. We found that the speed of economic growth of Shenzhen is declined, although it is faster than the average speed of Guangdong province. The tertiary industry is expanding in size while the secondary industry is reduced, and the competitiveness of them is improved. The primary industry remains in negative growth. Through the analysis of the major sectors in all three industries, we propose a better route of development: to add more scientific and technological factors to the primary industry, to optimize the structure of the secondary industry, and to focus on the development of the tertiary industry.
