Abstract

The differential expression of genes is the core mechanism of life activities. Because different cells or similar cells are not the same in gene expression at different developmental and physiological stages,this provides important information for the study of biological processes. Suppression subtractive hybridization( SSH) is one of the means to separate differentially expressed genes emerging in recent years,this technique combines the advantages of suppression subtractive hybridization and suppression PCR,which is widely used in the veterinary field. In this paper,the principles,methods and characteristics of SSH technique are described,and the applications of SSH technique in microbiology, animal diseases,animal fertility and parasitology are correspondingly generalized and described.
