Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of limbal stem cells autograft transplantation in the treatment of pterygium. Methods Under microscope,60 patients (65 eyes) with pterygium including primary and recurrent pterygium were treated with limbal stem cells autograft transplantation. After operation, the follow-up time was 6 months to 4 years. Results 58 eyes in 54 cases were healed and 7 eyes in 6 cases recurred. The recurrence rate of pterygium was 12.07%.Conclusion Limbal stem cells autograft transplantation in the treatment of pterygium is helpful to the reconstruction of cornea and conjunctva and inhibit neovascular and conjunctiva epithelioma to invade the cornea, so effectively prevent the recurrence of pterygiun. It is the ideal surgical methed of pterygium therapy.
