Expression and significance of E-cadherin/catenin complex in transitional cell carcinoma of bladder

Abstract
Objective;To investigate the expression of E-cadherin/catenin complex in transitional cell carcinoma of bladder(BTCC),and evaluate their prognostic values.Methods;To study the expression of E-Cadherin?β-catenin mRNA and proteins in 54 cases of BTCC tissue.The relationship between expression of these protein and clinicopathological factors was analyzed.Results;The positive expression rates of E-Cadherin?β-catenin in BTCC were 29.6% and 25.9% respectively.The expression of E-Cadherin?β-catenin was negatively related with clinical stage and pathological grade of BTCC(P0.05),The positive rate of E-Cadherin?β-catenin was significantly higher in the cases of good differentiation than in the ones of poor differentiation(P0.05).Conclusion;The cause of abnormality expression of E-Cadherin and β-catenin may be different in transitional cell carcinoma of bladder.To study the expression of E-Cadherin?β-catenin simultaneously can provid valuable information on BTCC prognosis
