Abstract
Objective To elucidate weather the expression of E-cadherin and β-catenin correlates with clinicopathological variables and prognosis of colorectal carcinoma. Methods We performed E-cadherin and β-catenin expression investigation with immunohistochemical method on 139 colorectal cancers. Results Significant inverse correlation existed between the abnormal expression of E-cadherin and β-catenin and histologic grade. And abnormal expression of E-cadherin also correkted significantly with lymph node metastases, and clinical staging. Both abnormal expression of E-cadherin and β-catenin correlated with poor survival. Conclusion Abnomal expression of E-cadherin and β-catenin correlated with invasion, matestasis and prognosis of colorectal carcinoma.
