Abstract

Objective: To explore the effect of neurotropin injected into epidural in complex regional pain syndrome of lower extremity. Methods: Nineteen patients (11males and 8 females) of complex regional pain syndrome were randomly divided into neurotropin group (10 cases) and control group (9 cases). All patients had histories of operations or injury. Twelve of them had after spinal operation pain. Seven of them had backleg pain after spinal injury. All of them felt burning pain or sting pain. Most of them felt numbness, hypoaesthesia, hyperaesthesia, cold, weakness, sleep dysfunction and anxiety meanwhile. Mixed liquor of 2% lidocaine 3ml, vitamin B1 1ml(10mg), methycobal 1ml (0.5mg), NS 1ml was injected into epidural once a day in the control group, continuing fourteen days as a course of treatment. Dexamethasone 2.5mg was mixed on the first, the seventh and the thirteenth day. Alprostadil 10μg/d iv. for fourteen days at the same time. Neurotropin was injected into epidural in neurotropin group by 7.2iu once a day in neurotropin group, continuing fourteen days. Alprostadil 10μg/d for fourteen days likewise. VAS and patients' subjective evaluation were taken before and after therapy. Results: the two groups had less VAS and improved conditions on numbness, hypoaesthesia, hyperaesthesia, cold, weakness, sleep dysfunction and anxiety than before. Neurotropin group had better effect than control group ( P 0.05).Conclusion: Neurotropin injected into epidural had a significant pain relief on complex regional pain syndrome. Also it can be helpful to relieving numbness, hypoaesthesia, hyperaesthesia, cold, weakness, sleep dysfunction and anxiety.
