Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical effect of limbal stem cells autograft transplantationin the treatment of primary pterygium. Methods Transplantation of autologous limbus cornea were adopted in 19eyes of 18 patients with primary pterygium. After operation, the follow-up time was 10 to 36 months. Results All cases had satisfactory curative effect during the follow-up of 10-36 months.Limbal autografts edema disappeared within 7 days, conjunctival epithelium recovered in 2-3 weeks after operation.During the follow-up time, there was no complication and recurrence of the pterygium. Conclusion This study showed that Limbal autograft transplantation was safe and effective in preventing the pterygium recurrence.
