Abstract
Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of autologous corneal limbal stem cells transplantation for treatment of pterygium,to approach the method to reduce postoperative recurrence rate.Methods Pterygium excision combined with autologous limbal stem cell transplantation was performed on 24 cases(28 eyes) with primary pterygium group or recurrent pterygium group.The result was analysed.Results The healing of corneal epithelial and autograft taked 3.1 days and 5-7 days respectively,all of which were stable.1 of 28 eyes(3.57%) was found recurence 2 months after operation.The visual acuity of most cases(78.6%) was promoted.Conclusion Autologous corneal limbal stem cells transplantation is an effective and safe treatment for primary and recurrent pterygium.
