Observation of retention enema of traditional Chinese medicine combined with moxibustion treatment on radiation enteritis

Objective To observe the effect of retention enema of traditional Chinese medicine combined with moxibustion treatment on radiation enteritis.Methods 123 patients with radiation enteritis were randomly divided into two groups.60 cases of the control group received conventional western medicine.And 63 cases of the treatment group received retention enema of traditional Chinese medicine combined with moxibustion treatment.Improvement of clinical symptoms in the two groups was compared before and after treatment.Results The total effective rate in the treatment group and the control group was 92.1% and 76.7%,and difference of efficacy between two groups was statistically significant(P0.05).After treatment,scores of mucus bloody purulent stool,diarrhea,abdominal pain and tenesmus were lower than those before treatment in treatment group and after treatment in control group(P0.01).Conclusion Retention enema of traditional Chinese medicine combined with moxibustion treatment has a better efficacy,safety,fewer side effects and better patient compliance,it is one of the effective treatment programs of radiation enteritis.
