Abstract
Objective To evaluate the relationship between T174M and M235T polymorphisms of angiotensinogen (AGT) gene in exon 2 and brain infarction (BI) in Chinese Han population. Methods ABI PRISM SNaPshot multiplex kit was used to genotyping T174M and M235T polymorphisms in 90 patients with BI and 90 healthy controls. Results The genotype distribution of T174M polymorphism was different between BI group and controls, but no statistical difference was found( P = 0. 071 ) . Frequencies of T and C alleles were obviously different between these two groups (P =0. 045) . The genotype distribution of M235T polymorphism had no difference between BI group and controls (P=0.194). The patients' C allele frequency was higher than the controls , but no statistical difference was found (P =0.057) . However, the genotype distribution and allele frequencies of M235T polymorphism were significantly different between male BI group and male controls ( P = 0. 030 ,P =0. 011 ) . Conclusion T174M polymorphism of AGT gene might be associated with the occurrence of BI in the whole Chinese Han population. M235T polymorphism of AGT gene might be associated with BI in men but not in women.
