Abstract
Objective To evaluate the relationship between T174M and M235T polymorphisms of angiotensinogen(AGT) gene in exon 2 and essential hypertension(EH) in Chinese Han population. Methods The genotype was determined by the method of ABI PRISM SNaPshot Multiplex Kit in a total number of 185 EH patients and 185 healthy controls. Results The genotypes distribution of T174M(C/T) and M235T (T/C) had no significant difference between EH group and normal group(P0.05).Frequencies of C and T alleles had also no difference in the two groups(P0.05).However, the genotype distribution of M235T was different between the EH female group and normal female group(53,28,2/37,11,6,χ 2=6.403,P=0.041). Logistic regression analysis showed age (P=0.058),-body mass index(BMI)(P=0.002),concentration of serum triglycerides(P=0.000) and serum glucose (P=0.039)- were all independent risk factors for EH. Conclusion M235T polymorphism of AGT gene might be associaed with the occurrence of EH in women but not in men.
