Abstract

Objective To evaluate the curative effect of cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation through temporal small-incision to the filtered glaucoma eyes with cataract. Methods 28 filtered glaucoma eyes with cataract were operated with cataract extraction and implantation intraocular lens through a temporal small-incision, which was not sutured after operation.During the postoperative 3-18 months follow-up period, visual acuity, corneal astigmatism and intraocular pressure(IOP) were observed. Results the visual acuity in all of 28 eyes improved postoperatively: 0.05-0.2 in 8 eyes (28.57%), 0.3-0.4 in 11 eyes(39.26% ),0.5-0.8 in 5 eyes(17.86%) and 1.0-1.2 in 4 eyes(14.29%).Postoperative astigmatisms were(0.92+0.82)D,(0.76±0.88)D and (0.70±0.72)D at 1 week,1 month and 3 months respectively,Compared with preoperative astigmatism which was (0.76±0.88)D, there was no significant difference (P0.05). Postoperative IOP at 1 month was (17.30±1.88)mmHg,compared with preoperative IOP of (16.02±2.48)mmHg,there was no significant difference (P0.05). Conclusion For the filtered glaucoma eyes with cataract, through temporal small-incision cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation can be used to avoid disturbing the filtering bleb with little postoperative reactions, vision is improved and the IOP control is not affacted, the operation is safe and reliable.
