Abstract

Objective To observe the expression of HBV-DNA and whether or not copy of HBV in the umbilical cord tissues of the died fetus delivered from the puerperant with hepatitis virus B infection. Methods 40 cases of died fetus were collected, and made the autopsy,we detected HBV-DNA in umbilical cord tissues with in situ molecular hybridization technique. HBV was detected in the mother veins before delivery. Results For the umbilical cord tissues, there were 16/40(40%) cases detected out HBV-DNA.When the prenatal sera HBV were high, low and without replication status, the detectable rates of HBV-DNA in the umbilical cord tissues were 1/4(25%)cases,7/20(35%)cases and 8/16(50%) cases respectively; For the detectable rates of HBV-DNA in the umbilical cord tissues, the difference was not statistically significant among the high, low and without replication status (P0 05). HBV-DNA were mainly localized on the surface of the umbilical cord vessel and in the plasma of the cord vessel's endothelial cells. HBV-DNA in the cord vessel's endothelial cells nuclei was not seen. Conclusion There were HBV replication in the umbilical cord tissues of the died fetus. But expression of HBV-DNA in the umbilical cord tissues of the died fetus was not related with the HBV replication status in the pregnant woman veins.
